Job Description I.

JOB TITLE: Capital Asset Accountant JOB TYPE: 483 POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Business ServicesPAY GRADE: ADM-8 FLSA STATUS: Exempt ASSIGNMENT PERIOD 12 months 260 days II.

SUMMARY OF POSITION’S PURPOSE To support financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, investigating, and reporting financial data.



EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university with a minimum of 24 hours of accounting.

Additional criteria as established by the School Board.


EXPERIENCE – 1-2 years of related experience and/or training 3.

SKILLS – Knowledge of accounting practices; knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and how it applies to capital assets; and physical and mentalstamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks, and duties.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS –Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and accounting software.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accounts for movable fixed assets:Works with all staff to ensure that all fixed assets purchased are listed and accounted for.

Coordinates the tagging and delivery of all movable fixed assets purchased during the year.

Works with all staff to record retirement of all fixed assets disposed of during the year.

Coordinates the disposal and sale of supplies, equipment, buildings, and land by public auction or bid as required by law Conducts yearly inventory checks throughout the district.

Maintains and tracks all technology initiative equipment.

Works with schools on tracking all technology initiative equipment.

Develops internal policies to ensure effective management and compliance with School Board policy.

Works with the Director of Business Services in the preparation of the Annual Report and various portions of the Annual Financial and Statistical reports to the DOE Consistent management of depreciation schedule by reconciling the balance from ALIO (general ledger) to DESTINY Administration of capital assets program by performing periodic audits, tagging assets for tracking purposes and assign proper acquisition value Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.G.

expense management.

Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.

Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.

Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.

Perform any additional duties assigned by the Director of Business Services.
