Registered Nurse (RN) Administrative Coord – St. Mary- PRN

This job is responsible for the administrative operation of the hospital during the evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours. Using the Director of Nursing and Administrator on-call as resources, this job acts decisively to coordinate patient care activities, to problem-solve patient and staff-related issues, and to assist in the coordination of staffing efforts throughout the facility. Functions as the principle clinical resource on site, acting when necessary on behalf of Department Directors and Managers to facilitate patient care activities.

Education

Required – Registered Nurse diploma

Preferred – Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Work Experience

Required – 3 years Acute care experience.
Experience working in a setting that requires the ability to effectively analyze situations, display critical thinking and satisfactorily solve problems.

Certifications

Required – Current RN License in the state of practice

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Preferred- Specialty certifications such as CCRN, Nursing Admin, CEN, etc.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and / or certification

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
  • Strong financial skills

Job Duties

  • Coordinates patient care activities and ensures optimal operation of unit during shift
  • Oversees unit personnel and serves as point of contact in emergency / urgent situations
  • Participates in Performance Improvement initiatives
  • Maintains current required certification, licensure and participates in clinical and technical training and professional development activities
  • Plans and provides patient care based on physical, pyscho/social, educational, safety, age and other related criteria

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
