Paper Machine Operator

Pratt Industries

This is a Full-time position in Shreveport, LA posted November 25, 2021.

General Summary:
The Paper Machine Operator job consists of assisting all co-workers with setting up and maintaining production of paper making equipment.

Included in their duties is ensuring that they read the order properly, ensure all raw materials are available, ensure proper set-up of equipment, and preventative machine maintenance while following all safe work practices.
Essential Job Functions:
1) Mental Ability – The Paper Machine Operator must be able to understand orders and setup the machine properly.

They must be able to communicate orally with team members and keep accurate records.

They must be able to read a tape measure accurately and operate a calculator for basic mathematical computations.

Be able to recognize/match color and basic computer use knowledge.
2) Physical Ability – The Paper Machine Operator must be able to climb up steps/or ladder in order to setup or troubleshoot the equipment.

They must be able to lift up to 40-80 pounds to assist co-workers in lifting materials into place.
3) Safety – It is plant policy to work in a safe manner.

All Paper Machine Operators must ensure guards are in place, follow lock-out, observe all hazards such as nip points, and follow plant and department safety rules.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1) Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (glasses, ear plugs, gloves, etc…)
2) Monitor machines, equipment and processes.
3) House Keeping, washing up, raking up paper, shoveling debris.
4) Small repairs of paper mill equipment.
5) Perform test on either raw material or finished product.
6) Perform fast walking rounds of work area, continuously.
7) Install paper machine clothing on shutdown (requires heavy lifting).
8) Train others employees as well as receive training in multiple jobs throughout the plant.
9) Interpret data from the computer system and input data as needed.
10) Perform any other task ask of him or her by Mill Management.
