Job Description

Our Client Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Perform forensic assignments within the field of civil/structural engineering expertise based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.
  • Perform field investigations, studying and determining the cause and origin of construction defects or structural failures.
  • Produce written forensic reports detailing the cause and origin of construction defects and/or structural failures.
  • Coordinate geotechnical and other testing/experts to produce client reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that procedures are being followed and check on safety features during project completion.
  • Use many different equations, applications and figures to ensure the proper procedures and applications are used (items may include chemical testing applications, drafting and design software, electrical testing devices and equipment, land surveying techniques and the metric system, to name just a few).
  • Follow laws and regulations every step of the way.
  • May serve as a team leader or project manager and may be required to supervise and/or evaluate the performance of associate team members.
  • Initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Civil or Structural Engineering degree or higher.
  • P.E. license required with the ability to obtain licensure in additional states as needed.
  • 2-5 yrs. of experience including project management and/or field investigation required (field experience with conditional assessments for existing projects and field experience with quality inspections for new projects).
  • To be successful, you will need a construction/fieldwork background.
  • You will need a high level of analytical skills. The work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. You also need to be effective in interacting and communicating with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external).
  • You will need knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Applications and computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • You will need the ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • You need to be capable of effectively presenting information to top management, clients, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • In this role, you will be frequently required to stand, walk on steeped slope roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics and crawl under homes and tunnels, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. You may also need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are necessary.
  • You will travel frequently to sites in the general vicinity of your home office with up to 10% overnight travel as needed.
