Senior Structural Engineer


This is a Full-time position in Baton Rouge, LA posted October 14, 2021.

Our EDO (Engineering Design Organization) is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to take on the role of Senior Structural Engineer for the Mid Con Region based out of our Baton Rouge, LA office.

Reporting to the Regional Civil/Structural Team Leader and as a member of the EDO group working closely with the Mid Con EDO, you will be responsible for all structural engineering aspects of multi-discipline projects in various markets and businesses.

With a strong background in structural design and delivery, you will be passionate about helping build our EDO delivery capacity.

You will support projects in all of our Markets, including Water (Water/Wastewater Treatment, Linear Water, Water resources), Energy and Resources, Environmental (Solid Waste, Landfill, Contaminated Sites and Remediation), and Property and Buildings and Federal Markets.

Responsibilities of the position are but are not limited to:
Fulfill the Civil/Structural engineering needs for a wide variety of industrial clients Provide the design for projects and proposals to assure that customer specifications and industry codes and standards are met Handle creation and modification of specifications, as well as lead all aspects of detailed design May travels to fabrication sites, installation sites, and customer facilities as needed to support project requirements Work collaboratively with others in a team environment to accomplish objectives Verify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility Provide leadership and oversight of design staff engaged on projects Act as Engineer of Record for projects as required, including signing and sealing final drawings, calculations, and specifications.

Work with reinforced concrete design to include
– Equipment Foundations, Machine Foundations, Concrete Structures, Containment Systems, Plant Buildings, and Marine Structures Work with structural steel design including Process Structures, Rail and Truck Loading Structures, Pipe and Cable Tray Racks, Marine Structures, Sheet pile structures and retaining walls Design to national codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, AISC, OSHA, PIP and ASTM.

Additional Client specific design standards may be required for some projects.

Understanding, interpreting, and correctly applying these codes and standards are paramount to a safe design Support DMs (Design Managers) on proposals by providing the level of effort required to complete structural designs and deliverables for a specific scope of work Assist in preparing effective proposals seeking targeted project opportunities Develop and implement QA/QC processes for project work Ensure timely completion of project deliverables, be able to manage several projects at once and determine priorities, including demonstrating good judgement and decisiveness Produce engineering designs, drawings, details and specifications from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures for a wide variety of steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures Supervise the work of CAD staff and junior engineers, preparation of construction specifications for tender and contract packages, and conduct site inspections of existing structures as well as those under construction Provide structural construction support, including review of structural submittals and requests for information Develop and implement QA/QC processes for project work
The Ideal candidate will have the following Skillset:
Ability to lead multiple project priorities, and a willingness to quickly change work assignments Strong understanding of the level of effort required to complete structural designs and deliverables Ownership and accountability for completed work Ability to lead and cooperate with a team in various environments, as well as work independently Strong influencing skills and the ability to develop effective and credible relationships both with project teams and within the organization Qualifications: B.S.

degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is required, M.S.

or M.E.

degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.

At least one degree must be issued by an ABET accredited institution.

Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience Minimum 8 years of experience in support of industrial structures, foundations, process equipment access platforms and walkways, as well as general site work including drainage studies Model Law PE (Professional Engineer) record with NCEES is required.

Candidate will be required to use this record to rapidly obtain licensure in multiple states as required for project needs.

Model Law SE (Structural Engineer) record with NCEES is a plus or the ability to obtain Current SE (Structural Engineer) Licensure in Illinois Preferred.

Current PE or SE licensure in California is Preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, STAAD Pro, RISA (Structural Engineering Design & Analysis software), PCA Mats (concrete design) and Mathcad Strong organization and communication skills needed for client interface and design team involvement
