Human Resources Generalist

Job Title: Human Resources Generalist (full-time)

You Will Be Reporting To: VP of Human Resources

Company Services: 4th Sector Solutions provides business management services, including financial management and reporting, school operations, start-up, human resources management and foodservice administration, to charter schools and educational nonprofits currently operating in Louisiana, New York, Indiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Washington DC, and Texas.

Company Location: Based in Baton Rouge, LA with a New Orleans satellite office.

Work will be based in Baton Rouge with in-state travel (travel outside of Baton Rouge will be reimbursed).

General Job Description:

The HR Generalist will be an essential member of our school support team.

Manages and administers the human resources program and processes for all 4th Sector clients.

Compliant human resources and operations are a must for schools, in order to support student achievement.

School personnel stability allows school leadership to focus on the most important outcomes
– student performance.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for implementing a fully functioning HR program for start-up clients, improving current HR systems for current clients and providing innovative solutions to meet the needs of the growing and changing charter school community that 4th Sector Solutions serves.

Responsibilities:
Administers human resources plans and procedures for various client personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manuals.
Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.
Conduct an annual review of benefits packages and ensure continued competitiveness and attractiveness to employees
Maintains Human Resource records and compiles reports from database.

Maintain appropriate and current documentation for teacher certifications.
Serve clients and employees with best-in-class customer service, including teachers and school administrators, by handling day to day questions and helping resolve work-related problems.
Create and manage effective and efficient HR systems to ensure the highest levels of customer service compliance for all clients and their employees
Recruit for open positions and perform the full life cycle of recruiting activities including sourcing and screening applicants, maintaining recruiting systems, drafting offer letters, providing follow-through with candidates, supporting hiring managers, and reporting recruiting statistics.
Responsible for new hire and all employee onboarding activities, termination, and change of status forms with payroll.

Serve as employee liaison to assist in problem resolution with issues related to benefit deductions and pay.
Assist in communicating company policies and procedures.

Promote understanding within the organization and across the school operations.
Support the performance review process; provide employees and managers with information about the process, policies, job duties, and process for promotion.
Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations, including fingerprinting, background checks and employee terminations.
Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of Human Resources experience, OR A master’ degree in Human Resources Management and three (3) years of experience in the HR field OR Any similar combination of education and experience.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
General knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with peers and employees; ability to present information and make recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and make deadlines.
Demonstrates good judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; self-motivated; well organized.
