If this sounds like you (or someone you know), please read on The Database Administrator position is primarily responsible for keeping AAOS’s data safe and accessible.

This position will support our registry databases and environments along with providing support for the Academy’s database systems, warehouse, marts, and supporting applications.

The Database Administrator ensures all environments are up to date, planning and performing all upgrades.

Helps build the structure and design of the database.

Implements security measures for the data, monitoring and controlling access.

Restores lost data.

Creates new and refreshes environments.

Merges databases, updates systems and creates data backups as necessary.

Continually monitors database systems.

Fully documents environments.

Leads the effort to develop a unified enterprise data model for the Academy.

Adds insights into the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance data platforms on premise and in Microsoft Azure cloud-based environments.

including leading the development of a data warehouse environment to support the Registry’s business intelligence roadmap.

Designs, develops, and maintains the ETL pipelines using SSIS that standardize raw data from multiple data sources and optimize both the operational and dimensional/star schema data model necessary for transactional systems and business intelligence applications.

Gathers business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions aligning to an overall data architecture.

Extracts, transforms, and loads data to and from various data sources including relational databases, Cosmo database, web services, and flat files.

Produces various technical documents such as ER diagrams, table schemas, data lineage, API documents, standards, templates and naming conventions.

Provides leadership and oversight on database architectural design for existing Academy systems including database administration, SQL users management, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Provides analysis, conceptualizes, designs, implements, and develops solutions for critical data-centric projects.

Performs dataflow, system and data analysis, and develops meaningful and useful presentation of data in downstream applications.

Plans and implements standards and templates for stored procedures and database objects, perform database design and data repository modelling.

Monitors ETL processes, system audits, dashboard reporting, and presentation layer functioning and performance.

Monitors database performance, provides optimization recommendations, and implements recommendations.

Follows the release cycles and implements delivery of task assignments, defect correction, change requests, and enhancements.

Troubleshoots and solves technical problems.

Manages all database refreshes for various environment and servers (UAT, QA, QA2, DEV).

Performs database backups and restores for Registry databases.

Champions the database upgrades for new releases and deployment during release nights.

Travel: Up to 5 days per year Qualifications : Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or another related field required Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a Database Administrator role leveraging SQL; knowledge of Microsoft technology stack; background in Azure Infrastructure as a Service environment preferred Data modeling experience in building logical and physical data models Experience working with both structured and unstructured data Applied knowledge of Microsoft Security/Authentication Concepts (Active Directory, IIS, Windows OS) Strong technical planning skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask across several work streams Must have a passion for continued improvement, learning, and mentoring Polished presentation skills; experience creating and presenting findings to executive level staff Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate ideas and solutions effectively Must be highly collaborative with the ability to manage and motivate project teams and meet deliverables Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Desired: Minimum of 2 years of data warehousing experience including the design, development, and ongoing support of star or snowflake data schemas to support business intelligence applications Demonstrated understanding of Business Intelligence and data solutions including cubes, data warehouse, data marts, and supporting schema types (star, snowflake, etc.) Knowledge of SSRS or PowerBI Experience with SSIS Experience with NOSQL Health Care industry experience Experience with Cosmos, Azure Data Factory If this describes YOU, please apply by sharing the following: -Clearly communicate why you are the ideal candidate for this role, providing specific examples and experiences as proof points.
