This is a Full-time position in Baton Rouge New Orleans Slidell Covington Gretna, LA posted November 23, 2021.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Louisiana AmeriCorps members serve as our Youth Development Professionals (YDP). A Youth Development professional plans, implements and supervises youth members, and evaluates activities and outcomes within a specific program area, supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Citizenship.

The YDP is primarily responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate, creative lessons and activities for students enrolled in our after school and summer programs. This person will also be responsible for effective classroom management and supervision of students while being enthusiastic, professional, and fun.

AmeriCorps is a unique opportunity to serve your community, earn money for college and develop a lifetime ethic of service. AmeriCorps Members gain skills that empower them to address critical needs in the community, serve local elementary, middle and high school students across Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Gretna and Covington Louisiana. AmeriCorps members mentor the youth, tutor students, and help them gain the skills necessary to succeed in today’s world. AmeriCorps members are required to participate in national service projects and community outreach hours.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Louisiana AmeriCorps members

– Actively participate in community development through national service projects and community outreach.

– Assist in monitoring and evaluating academic performance of students.

– Complete necessary service hours as specified by service term calendar.

– Evaluating activities and outcomes within a specific program area, supporting our priority outcome areas of: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Citizenship.

– Maintaining effective classroom management and supervision of students while being enthusiastic, professional, and fun

– Planning, implementing, and supervising age-appropriate, creative lessons and activities for Club members enrolled in BGC

Terms Available for Service

Spring Term: 01/03/2022 – 05/31/2022

Summer Term: 06/02/2022 – 07/31/2022

Fall Term: 08/01/2022 – 12/31/2022

– Must be at least 17 years old

– High School Diploma/GED
– U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
– Attend mandatory pre-service orientation

– Complete 300 hours of service

– Transportation Strongly Recommended

– Available Monday – Friday from 2:00 pm — 6:00 pm (School Year)

– Available Monday – Friday from 7:00 am — 5:30 pm (Summer)
