Accounts Payable Team Lead

D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Accounts Payable Team Lead. The right candidate will provide a leadership resource to Accounts Payable team members through knowledge, experience, motivation and support.  Responsible for knowing and complying with proper procedures. Compile and maintain accounts payable records. Coordinate with other departments and vendors when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the Controller and/or division management with day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable (AP) department including planning, assigning, and directing the workflow of the AP Clerks
  • Act as an expertise and knowledge focal point for the team members
  • Ensure team members have current knowledge of all internal policies and procedures
  • Enter, review, and post AP batches
  • Ensure accuracy in vendors, payments, job numbers, subdivisions, and cost codes
  • Coordinate with other departments when necessary to ensure timely payment, reimbursement, etc.
  • Work with vendors to ensure payments are being made to them in a timely manner. Research any issues and resolve the issues if an AP Clerk is not available
  • Assist in the vendor set-up process and vendor insurance compliance
  • Reconcile vendor statements and research past-due invoices
  • Run weekly Payment Group Reports and submit to corporate. Run weekly Paymode reports and maintain the Paymode process. Run Auto Voucher and request approvals. Make corrections as necessary
  • Manage the historical scanning/document storage process as well as Docusphere
  • Assist in solving time-consuming problems within the AP department and other departments
  • Correspond with vendors
  • Stop payments and void checks as needed
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

Supervisory Responsibilities                                              

Directly manages two or more employees in the Main Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately process and record a large volume of numerical data
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of general accounting functions preferred
  • Experience with accounts payable software and data entry a plus
