Data Governance Analyst

Role : Data Governance Analyst Duration : Fulltime Location : Pittsburgh, PA (remote) Alcoa is looking for a self-motivated, energetic, detail oriented and a great teammate to take on the role of Enterprise Data Management Analyst in the Data Hub organization This professional will be accountable for delivering Data Governance within an Enterprise Data function. The scope is Alcoa wide and will interact with both the Enterprise & Operations Spokes that have the responsibility for delivery of Data Management & Analytics solutions to their respective enterprise and operations customers. We are also seeking experience in Enterprise Data governance and tools that include the areas of master data management, metadata and cataloging, data quality and compliance and data governance including policy creation covering data access and retention. Major activities and key challenges Drive the data governance vision and implement data management strategies, standards, and processes to support all of Alcoa. Assist in developing and driving the execution of master data management strategies. Support in the development of data quality standards and find opportunities to ensure data meets the following characteristics, including but not limited to: accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance, and completeness. Promote ongoing engagement of data stewards and data domain owners within the data governance structure. Develop and implement a roadmap for tools and processes to effectively manage critical data across the enterprise. Establish processes and governance that enable rapid data access that leads to value creation, without sacrificing appropriate access controls. Drive the capture of business definitions, taxonomies, and linkage to technical lineage within the metadata tool. To be successful in this role and to play a part in our ongoing success we desire the following background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related IT field. Location is flexible – home office options available. At least 5 years of performing enterprise data management activities, interpreting data policy, and conducting impact analysis for data related changes. Demonstrable experience in tools such as Informatica, Collibra or Semarchy and collaborating with business users and IT technical staff. Expertise with analytical and data visualization tools and techniques, recent skills in Microsoft Power BI, enterprise data in warehouses/marts, master data management, dimensional data models, and data quality. Ability to communicate clearly, in written and spoken word, with customers and team members. Experience with supporting data governance activities, designing and conducting data governance training programs. Experience with Microsoft Azure data management technologies such as data stores (SQL, Synapse or Data Lake), Integrations (Functions, Data Factory or SSIS) and analytics (Databricks, ML).
