Food Acquisition Coordinator

Summary: As part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Team, the Food Acquisition Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the relationship management of retail grocery, manufacturing, and other donated food streams.

Maintaining relationships with product donors, assisting with food drives, monitoring monthly reports, and assisting with special food related events.

The Food Acquisition Coordinator reports to the Senior Food Acquisitions Coordinator.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the development and retention of existing food donors with the goal of receiving more pounds per donation and more regular contributions.
Identify and build relationships with potential new donors, including local/regional retailers, distributors, and growers.
Conduct regular, relationship-enhancing visits to local donor sites.

Develop materials for educating donors about the Food Bank.
Create and maintain a key contact database for all donor relationships.
Execute onsite visitation plan to maintain a relationship with the donor and increase donations through problem solving.
Serve as the primary contact on issues and trends related to food acquisition (quantity and quality) as well as the food industry as a whole.

Make recommendations to the management staff of issues requiring focused attention.
Complete monthly reports for Feeding America regarding retail store and manufacturer donations.
Onboard new agencies to pick up retail donations and monitor agency reported pick up receipts through online platform.
Assist with ensuring the food drive database is current and accurate regarding registration, food drive status, and thank you notes.
Communicate directly with donors to educate them on the food drive process, including deliveries and pickups.
Assist Senior Food Acquisitions Coordinator with special food events.
General Duties and Responsibilities:

As a part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank team, all employees play an essential role and are expected to:

Report and/or correct deficiencies that constitute immediate threats to health and safety.
Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor which are consistent with the definition and intent of the job description.
All Food Bank employees are considered critical first responders during emergency events (Hurricanes, Pandemics, etc.).

This will require extreme flexibility of work schedule and hours during such events.
Minimum Qualifications:
Relevant Associate’s degree and/or comparable experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Strong external customer focus.
Required candidate must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license and access to a dependable vehicle.
Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize duties.
Takes initiative to identify and propose remedies to problems.
Strong organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle a high volume of work in short periods when necessary.
Willingness to foster agency, department, and program-wide cooperation and teamwork through the use of positive/constructive communication techniques.
