Job Summary/Description:

KPLC 7 News seeks a newscast producer who is looking for the opportunities and tools needed to produce award-winning and innovative newscasts.

The producer will work closely with news managers, reporters, photographers and anchors to create high-quality, high-energy, innovative and authentic broadcasts.

Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Content and overall production of local newscastsOversee all details of the broadcast while working closely with all members of the news teamStack the rundownManage the on-air broadcast from the control roomContribute story ideas for the newscast and work closely with reporters to execute those ideasProduce news content for all station distribution platforms
– broadcast, digital, mobileAlso respond quickly and aggressively to breaking news and getting information on the airCopy-edit reporter scripts as well as all newscast copyEdit video for multiple platformsMust work a flexible schedule when needed to cover other shifts and breaking newsWork cooperatively as a team member under tight deadlines and ensure accuracy of and update information for the on-air news ticker/crawl system
Degree in Journalism or related fieldPrevious work or internship in journalism is a plusSomeone who can identify great video and compelling sound bitesHave solid news judgmentExcellent communication skillsThe ability to edit video and the ability to write clearly and conciselyMust have the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environmentMust have good writing skillsHave a good driving recordMVR and drug screening required
