Offshore Galley Hand

This is a Full-time position in Lafayette, LA posted November 23, 2021.

Job Description:

· Assists cook with the daily preparation and serving of meals and the maintenance of housekeeping duties at the workplace facility according to customer contract specifications.

Essential Job Functions/Major Responsibilities:

· Clean and maintain galley (hallways, stairways, and storage areas)

· Prepare and serve appropriate foods as directed by cook

· Properly protect and store foods for health and sanitation purposes

· Prepare and maintain fresh coffee supply at all times

· Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and all reusable containers

· Clean and organize pantry, walk-ins, and freezers ensuring proper rotation of perishables

· Unload and store groceries and supplies as received, practicing proper rotation

· Restock foods, equipment and supplies for following day

· Inventory and bag all soiled linen to be cleaned.

Inventory and store all clean linen

· Make beds and clean storerooms daily

· Clean, sweep, mop, strip, and wax floors regularly

· Clean and sanitize galley equipment as required

· Participate in safety activities such as meetings, inspections, and demonstrations

· Other duties as assigned or requested

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assist cook with other galley and food preparation duties as directed

· Maintain and clean galley along with quarters when special circumstances are required

· Assist with monthly inventory

· Show new Contractors on job their responsibilities and duties

· Other duties such as required by contract or as directed by management

Education and/or Experience

· Elementary education

· Standing continuously for sustained periods of time

· Lifting frequently with maximum lifts of 50 lbs

· Carrying frequently with maximum carries of 50 lbs

· Climbing stairs/ladders frequently

· Ability to support own weight to accomplish swing rope transfer

· Reaching frequently in all directions

· Walking constantly

· Stooping frequently

· Pulling frequently with maximum pulls of 50 lbs

· Crouching occasionally

· Feeling, particularly with fingertips

· Hearing – ability to hear emergency or detailed information through verbal communication and alarms

· Speaking – ability to express or exchange ideas and to convey detailed instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly

· No active communicable diseases, diseases transmitted through food supply as listed by centers for Disease Control and Department of Health and Human Resources

· Exposure to work assignments consisting of minimal twelve (12) hour workdays on assignments that may last up to four (4) weeks or more.
