Telephonic Counselor


This is a Full-time position in Baton Rouge, LA posted January 15, 2022.


Who we need:

Your Level of Care Evaluation Tool (LOCET) screening will determine whether applicants are eligible for Louisianas long-term care services and supports (LTSS).

Additionally, you will supply callers with information about Louisianas LTSS programs, Medicaid eligibility and voter registration.

You must have excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to administer the phone screening LOCET.

What you’ll do:

* Provide phone-based screening for functional eligibility for all OAAS LTSS applicants by completing the LOCET accurately and timely
* Document all attempts to return calls
* Confirm Medicaid eligibility through the online Louisiana Department of Healths Medicaid eligibility system
* Provide information about Medicaid eligibility and refer or transfer the applicant by telephone to the appropriate Medicaid office, when found to be ineligible
* Utilize Kepros proprietary care management system to document other tasks and activities
* Maintain medical records confidentiality through proper use of computer passwords, maintenance of secured files, adherence to HIPAA polices
* Utilize proper telephone etiquette and judicious use of other verbal and written communications, following Kepro policies, procedures, and guidelines
* Actively cross-train to perform duties of other positions within the KEPRO network to provide a flexible workforce to meet client/consumer needs.

What you’ll need:


* Bachelors degree in a Human Services field required
* At least one (1) year of experience working with older adults or persons with disabilities required
* Experience with the Louisianas LTSS programs preferred
* Experience administering the LOCET preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

* Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Flexibility and strong organizational skills needed
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and internet/web navigation.
