Assistant Facility Manager

DCCO (Dorchester County Community Outreach) is a Faith Based Organization in Summerville, SC that is seeking two individuals to help supervise one of DCCO’s Homeless Shelters by witnessing to and providing a hand up for the homeless in our area.

The Full Time Shift Hours are Monday-Friday 1:30 pm-9:30 pm.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESShelter ManagementResponsible for shift supervision of the Home of Hope Men’s Shelter or may on occasion the Hope’s House Women’s shelter operation.

Position reports to the DCCO Facility Manager or DCCO Executive Director:Programs and ServicesCoordinate participation and implementation of shelter programming and servicesEnsure programs, procedures, and personnel policies and procedures are properly followed Monitor GuestsProactively assist the Facility manager in assessing the guests needs, goals, and progress of guests work towards self-sufficiencyAssist Facility Manager in making appropriate referrals and resolving problems which may arise with the guests and staff or among guestsAdministrationEnsure documentation assigned are completed properly for multiple grant contracts related to the shelter operationsEnsure that all records and documentation assigned are complete, accurate and up-to-dateActively participate in staff meetings and other fundraising events as appropriateCarry out other duties as assigned by DCCO Facility Manager or DCCO Executive DirectorMay be asked to fill short term gaps for vacation in DCCO Facility ManagerFacilities ManagementNotify DCCO Facility Manager and address any emergencies, issues, and maintain the safety of the facility at the shelterNotify DCCO Facility Manager of any maintenance issues of the shelter property and ensure the safe and welcoming environment of the shelter all timesThe following knowledge, skills and abilities are strongly preferred:Ability to assess the guests’ circumstances and needsUnderstanding of the homeless population and cultureUnderstanding of and sensitivity to domestic violence, sexual assault issues and trendsKnowledge of social service agencies and programs available in the communityEffective coaching and counseling skillsAbility to maintain the confidentiality of records and informationProven management and problem-solving skills, and ability to multi-taskBasic knowledge of addiction and mental health issuesQUALIFICATIONSDemonstrated evidence of a life lived with sound morals and ethicsA degree in Social Work or another related field or equivalent is a plusDemonstrated ability to supervise peopleStrong oral and written communication, time management, and organizational skills
