Warehouse Manager

Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

This is a Full-time position in Baton Rouge, LA posted November 21, 2021.

Warehouse Manager

Summary: As part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank team, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations.

This includes planning, directing, and/or coordinating the storage or distribution operations within the Food Bank and directly supervising all employees in the warehouse.

The Warehouse Manager will report to the Director of Operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, and distributing products or materials.

This includes all warehouse associates in the following areas: Receiving, Dry Picking, Cooler/Freezer Picking, Bulk Repacking Area, Sort and Repack Area
Ensure all warehouse safety, food safety and security procedures are followed through training, recording of records, daily inspections/audits.

This includes monitoring theft prevention safeguards to assure the integrity of inventory.
Development of staff: effective interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Development of a warehouse Lead to serve as assistant and potential successor
Daily inspections physical conditions of the facility (internal and External), its equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements when needed.
Maintaining records of equipment maintenance, cleaning schedules, temperature logs, pest control, etc.
Develop, update, train and inspect for compliance of standard operating procedures for all assigned areas
Preparing, managing and reporting of departmental budgets (Labor, utilities, repairs, supplies, etc.)
Prepare daily, weekly and other reports on warehouse activities as needed.
Active leader to ensure regulatory compliance (AIB, OSHA, etc)
Develops continuous improvement tools, processes, and platforms to drive a transformation throughout the organization that focuses on Safety, Customer Service and Cost reduction.
Utilizes a hands-on approach while working with front-line associates to promote and deploy sustainable continuous improvement activities.
Provides project management and leadership necessary to implement pilots and the ongoing rollout of new continuous improvement plans.
Other projects or duties as assigned.
General Duties and Responsibilities: As a part of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank team, all employees play an essential role and are expected to:

Accomplish all work activities in a safe and timely manner within assigned time frames.
Report and/or correct deficiencies that constitute immediate threats to health and safety.
Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor which are consistent with the definition and intent of the job description.
All Food Bank employees are considered critical first responders during emergency events (Hurricanes, Pandemics, etc.).

This will require extreme flexibility of work schedule and hours during such events.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years warehouse experience
Minimum 3 years of warehouse management history
Minimum 3 years managing Food Safety and Standard workplace Safety standards
Forklift Certification
Valid Louisiana driver’s license
Willingness and ability to work beyond normal working hours when necessary
Experience with Windows based software
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) across various levels of an organization
Capable of providing direction to team members using independent judgment
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
– work prioritization, planning and task delegation
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Experience in project reporting, planning, documenting, and development
Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills—able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Ability to manage financial, material, and personnel resources

Specifically, the refrigerated areas have temperature zones around 35 degrees Fahrenheit and the freezer areas have temperature zones that may reach -10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Additionally, the warehouse temperature may vary based on the outdoor temperature.
